Has anyone had it? Could you tell me the symtoms and duration? Can a 2.5 yr old get it (ugh).

I have had many. IT IS NOT FUN! It hurts reallllly bad, more than a normal sore throat. If you let it go for a few days it will hurt so bad you cant swallow. There probably will be white spots at the back of the throat, feels like your throat is bleeding really bad. I also (think) that a fever can accompany it. They test for it by taking a throat culture (all that is they take like a popsicle type stick and two cotton swab things and get the back of the throat so they can test it)
If left untreated it can cause many horrible things to happen, including death. It needs to be treated by a doctor in order for it to go away. It is treated by oral medication. Yes, I beleive a child that young can get it.

I had Strep Throat for the first time when I was 5 (wow... that was a long time ago), so I don't see why a 2 1/2 year old couldn't. My sypmtoms are always the same: Fever, sore thorat, nausea, and intense shaking. I would definately take you child to a doctor, however.
