I get frequent body aches and sometimes shooting pains. and sometimes I feel like somone is pinching my nerves. It gets worse at night. My mom has Fibromyalgia. Is it genetic? do you think it's whats wrong, or could it be something else.

welcome d and o,
as far as i know there has not been a study proving a relationship. i am the only member of a rather large family to have fms. i don't think there are any rules. how old are you? if you are still in your teens you may be experiencing what is called growing pains. they are real and they hurt. they are the body stretching itself to it's new reality. post back and tell me your age.
welcome to our little family. you will find some very special people here. we find our healing thru helping each other.
peace,
bluelakelady
sorry about your mom. it is tough. invite her here too!

I just want to add that not all moms understand that fibromyalgia can be so debilitating. Mine even has fibro. Also, chronic myofascial pain can be causing your shooting pains. Alot but not all people with fibromyagia have CMP.

anytime. that's what we are here for. chronic myofacial pain is one that i hang out with. it is inflamation of the facia. facia surrounds every molecule in your body, every blood cell, muscle, tendon. it is thruout our entire being. ever take the skin off a chicken breast and find that slimy stuff under it? that's facia. it becomes inflamed often causing swelling and pain of the region it is active in. my doc says the good news is it is believed that cmp does fulfill its time in your body and then just goes away. this theory she read said it lasts 15 to 20 years and then just evaporates. go figure. works for me. i like thinking there will be an end in sight.
