Hello everyone. I am new to this board. I have ruled out other illnesses that can mirror FMS, such as MS, Lyme Disease, hepatitus, thyroid disfunction, etc. My doctor has told me that unless a new symptom surfaces that would lead her to believe that it is something different, she believes that I have FMS. I was told this yesterday. Ever since I had mono about 5 years ago, I have never felt the same. I will go for moths feeling great and then all of a sudden I will feel crappy. My doctor said that people w/ this problem have flare up when their routines are disrupted. Have you all found that to be true? I went on vacation feeling great...about 1/2 way through I started to feeling achey, tired, feverish, nauseaus, loss of appetite. My other question is does anyone else have a loss of appetite during flare ups? The weather has been so rainy and cold the last 5-6 days, I don't thin that's helping. Any insight would really help. Thank you all so much.
Peace, SickinVT

welcome vt!
sounds normal to me. i call the energy times windows of opportunity to do what i want. the times i am down are opportunities to work within my mind restoring peace. you will get the hang of it.
vacations are very hard on a body with fms. there are many good books out there about travel and fms. check your local book store.
again welcome to our happy family.
peace,

Welcome VT, If I could ever get in a routine maybe I could answer your question. That's just my way of saying yes I believe you need a routine and when it gets out of whack so does the fibro. Hang in there, good luck.

Hi,

Yes, I think our routines help us, we work within our limits, and like everyone, we're less anxious when we feel that life is predictable. Vacations are stress for most people, and with us, the stress can start the illness up.
I find that stress of any kind can result in more pain and fatigue. It can be mental, emotional, or physical.
I've not had a vacation for years and years because of finances (lack of, that is) and agoraphobia, which pretty much keeps me in one area. I go into my garden and have lovely quiet times with my cats, or spend time with a good friend, or just look outside at the sky and the trees. These are my vacations, and they soothe me.
For me, a vacation would be more than I could handle, I think.

Peace and a blessing,

Seaturtle
