I've never heard of a case of that happening but I believe that in most cases if you can think it, it can happen. However, in your friends case, I take that if I haven't heard of it then it must be rare. No I am not super knowledge guy but I think you know what I mean. Usually people with common problems have stories that people have heard before. Your friend could have been just having some sort of violent stomach / digestive pains from the food overlaod. Anyway, I am not a doc so all my talk is just opinion but I do hpe your friend is ok.

I would think that overeating would cause stomach pains and probably vomiting before the stomach would explode. I have never heard of that happening before. Good question though!

Yes, the stomach can rupture from a food binge. How much the stomach can hold depends on how much it is "trained" or conditioned to hold. Those people you see winning eating contests have "trained" to do that kind of thing. Their stomachs are able to hold huge quantities of food, whereas your friend's is not.
It was a very wise idea that your friend was taken to the ER. While her stomach may not have ruptured and she may have just been cramping, that is not something to take lightly. If it did rupture and she didn't get treatment, she could have died.
I hope she is doing okay! Please let me know, as I am concerned.

PS That was NOT a stupid question at all! That is a very real danger for people who suffer from bulimia.

Good, I am glad to hear there was no rupture. Wow, that's interesting.... a blockage due to such a massive influence of food intake. That's a new one on me.
I hope after all this agony she at least won or placed in the contest! What was the food of choice? Do you think she'll ever eat it again?
I'm glad she's doing better and that she has a concerned friend like you!
