Just have a quick question. For the past couple days now I have had mucus draining from my throat. Like alot. I know its going to cause an infection but I what to stop it before it does. I do not have health insurance (I get it next month) so I was wondering if there is anything I could take now till I can go to the doc's. Oh and i am allergic to decongetants(cant spell sorry) Thanks!!!

My husband has had two sinus surgeries. He has had a long history of sinus infections that always end up going into his throat, chest etc. and he has also suffers from the drainage thing. This is what his doctor told him to do when he feels an infection or cold coming on and it has helped considerably.

First, buy a regular waterpik - you know, the one you would normally use for flossing your teeth (there are several places you can get them online or we got ours at Walmart). Then purchase a sinus tip online(do a search on Rhinotip or Grossan)or if you are lucky to find one locally, all the better. We purchased them at http://sinushealth.com/order.htm You can also ask your pharmacist.
Mix:
1 tsp. NON-iodized salt
1 tsp. baking soda
INTO a quart of warm water.
Use half of this at a time to irrigate the sinuses - even the ones in your forehead. The solution keeps for a couple of weeks. I know it sounds gross and I was skeptical to try it as first but it really works. The salt water is a natural infection fighter. It sure is better than going to the doctor all the time. There are also some instructions on the site above.
Let me know if you have any questions. goldierescue@hotmail.com
Hope this helps!
