hi..i'm new on here and i'm just getting over something which i'm not quite sure what it is. Apparently it's been going around here for a while....starts out with a fever and aches, like the flu, but then it turns into something like a VERY bad head cold but it doesn't get better easily and it lasts longer than normal. I, like some other people I know, have had to get antibiotics to make it go away. I was MISERABLE for over a week with the sinuses near my ears being blocked-painfully-, and coughing fits, and swollen glands in my throat. Nothing helped that usually helped fight colds...tea, vitamin C, echineacea, etc. and decongestants only helped make it vaguely liveable.

Went to the doctor, told them i was on decongestants and gave them my story...told them that it WAS NOT getting better and was lasting way too long. They seemed to think it was a normal cold and really didn't think I needed antibiotics, but I asked for them and got them. After taking them for only a day I was worlds better.

Anyone have any idea what the heck it might be? I know damn well if i was still trying everything else i'd still be miserable. Anyone else experience this?

Well, Im not sur what you had...But these were my symptoms...swollen neck(glands)?,SORE throat, coughing fits, headache, nausea...
On day 3..I had had enough & figured I needed something stronger..So dr. gave me "biaxin"? (anti-biotic)..well, its been 5 days & I still have the cough,(almost sounds like bronchitis) http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif
the first thing he asked was..Have you been near water? well, yes, on Saturday, i was at the wave pool with some friends. & he said it was from going in & out of the water!
This sounds bizare to me, Im not one to get sick that often..I take a ton of Vitamins, but he says they are a waste of $$ b/c you just piss them out...LOL
Im wondering if I should go back & get stronger anti-biotics?
oh well...This has been a sick start to the summer..NOT GOOD!

Do you wash your hair and night and let it dry on its own? Maybe that could be the reason. But only if you have done it for a long period of time... like a habit.
