I've looked all over the book store and found nothing, bah. I even asked someone who worked there and they couldn't fine anything to do with OCD. Does anyone know of any good books to help? I know they are out there ;)

My OCD is getting worse by the day, my hands are so cracked and constanly bleed :( Then I worry about germs getting into the cracks and wash them more....it's a never ending cycle. DH tried to stop my from washing them the other day when we had just got home from the playground with DD...I nearly lost my mind. Needless to say he let me wash my hands lol.

I put a pick of paper by the sink the other day and marked each time I washed my hands. (DH's idea) Then try to get the number down each day. It was 54!!! After that I didn't want to know anymore.

This has to stop before my DD is old enough to realize what I'm doing. I don't want her to see this.

A couple that I have, and have read quite a bit are:

Brain Lock : Free Yourself from Obsessive-Compulsive Behavior by Jeffrey Schwartz and Over and over Again: Understanding Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder by Fugen Neziroglu.

I've posted these before, but I thought they were helpful. Others that read them understood me a lot better too. I hope you can find them.

"Tormenting thoughts and secret rituals", by Ian Osborn. You can find these books pretty easily on the internet. Realizing what OCD is will help your obsessions alot. Good luck.

Hi: Another good book dealing with OCD is "The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Washing" I'm not sure of the author...but it helped me tremedously to deal with my own OCD problems/etc.

Thank you all! I couldn't believe there was nothing at all at the book store. I'll look for them online for sure. Actually I already ordered "Brain Lock". Hopefully it will help. :)

Wonderful book "The Imp of the Mind" by Lee Baer. Are you seeing a therapist?

"Tormenting Thoughts and Secret Rituals: The Hidden Epidemic of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder" by Ian Osborn and "Freeing Your Child From Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder" are both very good. I strongly reccommend them both (the latter because it helps the parent understand OCD very well).

Thank you guys very much!! I will surely check them all out.

Steen: I used to see a therapist a few years ago, I also used to take 225mgs of Effexor, which helped tremendiously, but I was taken off my medication when I was pregnant with my daughter, after that we moved and I lost my medical plan and I can no longer afford the effexor. I was doing really well for awhile, but I seem to be slipping again  I always feel that if I can just find a way to interupt the patterns of compulsive behavior, then I can stop doing it...interupting is the hard part, lol. I'm hoping educating myself ferther will help.
