Hey, I'm 19, and I come here every now and then.
I was on the meds for a bit for panick attacks, but that has nothing to do with what is bothering me now.

This past weekend I had felt different and noticed I started getting the chills really bad, I was wearing a sweatshirt at work in 95 degree weather. Soon after, the following sunday, I noticed the chills were gone quickly, but now I still have cotton mouth through out most of the day and a stomach flu I believe. I have tossed up my breakfast once on monday and once saturday, I think my flu turned into a stomach flu. Does anyone know any advice I could get about reducing a stomach flu? I think I have actually had the stomach flu now for 2 full days, but sunday I went out, so that didn't help much. And I still have it today, my breakfast was uneasy, but it stayed were I put it. I was 152 lbs. and I believe now I am fown to like 147, I not worried about gaining the weight back, I just do not want to lose any more.

Sounds like an intestinal virus. It should clear up in a couple of days.

Thank you. Makes me feel better. I actually lost 3 lbs. Not 5. My scale had a low battery. Anyhow, I'll just have to take it easy and drink a lot of liquids for it to go away.

I had one once before when I was younger in 8th grade. It was more severe though. I had a temperature and could hardly move. The doctor gave me medicine, and I was out of school for 2 wks. Not too good. But anyhow, thanks again and I will see what happens.

Is there anything one can do or take to relieve the agony of a stomach flu?

As far as the stomach flu goes, I had a dose of it for four days. I found that when I have the stomach flu I get relief from sticking to liquids like 7-up and I also take peppermint lifesavers to calm the queasy stomach. That always seems to help when I have the flu.

Lots of clear fluids to stay hydrated and I usually take a bit of gravol for the nausea it helps calm a queasy tummy but depending how severe the flu is it comes up too at times. I use immodium AD for the problem at the other end too that stuff works for me like a charm.

Unfortunately, there is not really anything that you can take to prevent againt the stomach flu as such. This is a viral infection, just like other viruses and if you are susceptible at the time, then you will catch it.

The only thing you can do is take high dose Vit C and/or Echinacea tincture to boost your immune system. If your immune system is working well, you will be less likely to catch these viruses in the first place and if you do, they will last for less time.

Autum Angel - Can I advise that next time you get stomach flu that you do not take Immodium. If you get a stomach virus/infection you are likely to have diarrhea with it and this diarrhea is caused directly by the infection and having diarrhea is a way of letting this infection out of your body. By taking Immodium you are stopping the diarrhea, but also the infection from coming out of your body. By doing this your recovery time will be longer, as you are keeping the infection inside your body.

If the stomach flu only lasts for 48 hours at most, although the diarrhea is a nuisance, surely you can put up with it for this length of time until it resolves naturally?

Yuck, I hate the SF...sooo glad that it's not as common to catch as the cold or respiratory flu for me
