hi,
My boyfriend is 23, and as far as I know has no kind of sleep problems, although he does snore a little. I just had something that i was curious about-He falls asleep faster than anyone I have ever known. If we are watching a movie or doing something equally sedentary, he seems to be able to fall asleep within seconds. Sometimes he even falls asleep when we are talking on the phone. The strange thing is that he seems to go all day without being tired, and then it's as if he moves from being not tired to being asleep, without passing through any stage of tiredness. It can be sort of strange, because we will be having a perfectly normal conversation, and all of a sudden he will stop responding. Sometimes I will say "i'll let you go so you can go to bed" and he'll say ok, and then in the time it takes me to say "good night" is is completely out.

He has no problems with this during the daytime, although we are usually doing things that are pretty active during the day. Does anyone know if this could be a sign of any sort of disorder, or if it seems like he's not sleeping well? The weird thing is that he never seems really tired during the day, so it seems like he's getting enough sleep. He just doesn't seem to have any in between stage- he's either not tired, or he's asleep.

We're not worried or anything, I'm just curious, because I have never known anyone with this amazing ability to fall asleep within seconds:) If anyone can relate, i'd be curious to hear your experiences. Thanks!

Is he just falling asleep quickly? Or does he often fall asleep in situations where he doesn't want to? I mean is he in bed and as soon as he lays down he's out? Or does he fall asleep while watching TV, in meetings, at concerts, in classes? I don't know about being quick to fall asleep, but frequently falling asleep when you are engaged in quiet activities (like watching TV or reading) can be a sign that he is getting inadequate sleep at night. That could be because of a sleep disorder, or because he just isn't getting enough hours of sleep.

With a little more detail, I think we could offer more help!
