Hey Everyone!!

Well, The last time I was here (if anyone remembers me) I wasnt sounding so good. But I just wanted to let everyone know I am now 15 days oxycodone clean and I feel great. I finally have my energy back. Mornings are a little rough for me and sleep isnt what it used to be for sure. But things are going good!! I am in outpatient therapy/counseling 3 days a week. I havent had any cravings or any kinds of that. The only thing that has really bothered me is the shakiness/anxiety. My family is still supportive and strong which is great. Im still not where I would like to be, the pain sucks still.

Anyways, the whole point of my post....was that 2 weeks ago, I never thought I was going to make it, I felt miserable. But now, I NEVER want that medicine ever again....after that detox!!!!! I know i still have a ways to go with my depression/anxiety/pain....but as far as the addiction, I am opiate-free from now on!!!!

Love always!!!

Thanks so much to the both of you. Each day is getting better. My emotions are still a little haywire but what can ya do?? I am trying my hardest to keep myself healthy most of all by keeping active, etc. I am scared for what the future holds when it comes to dealing with the pain (I have had 20+ operations on my sinus due to osteomyelitis in the bone) The headaches have come and gone lately and it makes me want to scream!!!!

I still have been having such bad anxiety though....has anyone else experienced that during this time of recovery. I started taking Zoloft about a week ago and havent been able to tell a huge difference yet but only time will tell.

Thanks for all the support!!!

Hi Everybody!

I decided to bump this up a bit because I have had a couple of down days here the last two days. I am still having the anxiety and shakiness that is so bothersome. I know I have only been on the zoloft (which my doctor says in the long run will help with the stress, anxiety, of what has gone on) but I know also it still may be withdrawl symptoms. What I am wondering is if there are any herbs, vitamins, alternative med/therapies, etc. that any of you have tried to overcome the anxiety that follows recovery/withdrawl? I have heard alot about valerian root, kava kava, etc....and how they can reduce stress but I dont really know if they would be safe in interaction with the zoloft....do any of you know???

Thanks so much..and hope everyone is doing well today! Thanks for the support!

Katie

That is sooooooo good to hear and I know how good it feels to be free of any opiates. Everything is so cloudy when you take them and it is amazing the little things you start to notice (ie trees, birds, smell of nature, etc forever...) you know what I mean. Keep it up Katie :D

Katie..
sorry didn't see this till this a.m.-
The first 3 weeks for me in recovery..are very volatile..i won't horrify you w/ my weirdness..lol!!!..
But its safe to say..every feeling that has been numbed-will come back threefold.
The anxiety/depression aspect is real and scary..
but the good news-we are all differant-and things get better every day-till one morning you wake up and feel-ok..
i guess what im trying to say is..
hang in there-the best is yet to be..
when you feel up to it-walks/meditation/quiet/relaxing activitys.
ive heard valerian is good..lots of water/healty food..
Great work-girl..

Done with Drugs

Hi Katie,

Don't take any kind of herbal things as they can react with your Zoloft. A good multiple vitamin would be a start and just eat healthy. Avoid caffeine because it will heighten the anxiety. Will your doc. give you a mild tranquilizer? To be used only if the anxiety is terrible. Also, I take Seroquel for sleep. It is an anti psychotic drug when taken in 800 mg. but, I take 25 to 75 mg.s at night and it just causes me to fall into a natural sleep. I don't think there is anything wrong with taking something temporarily to smooth things out. You should not have to suffer to feel better, this is not a punishment, although your family doc sure tried to make it that at that detox hospital he put you in. No medical help?? What was the point, just to bill your insurance? Me thinks so....
