i have this weird looking thing on my leg, and i've noticed it for about 2 years. it kind of seems to be growing.. and i'm not really too sure about seeing a doctor considering it's near enough to an area that'd embarass me to see a doctor about. it is on my leg though, and it is growing i believe.. it's sort of blotched, brown/purplish.. anything to really worry about? or is it just normal?

Well, since it is impossible to see through your post, I would think that anything that is changing shape and color, that "seems to be growing", certainly should be seen by your doctor no matter where it is located. Normal moles, liver spots, etc. don't change shape and color and you should be really worried about this. Wether it is a melanoma, malignancy, or whatever, your desire to delay having this evaluated may be the worst decision you can make. Clear? chris

it's not a mole or liver spot or anything.. it more so looks like uhm.. lets see.. just like that area is differently coloured, and it slowly gets bigger.. very slowly but i do remember it being muchmuch smaller than this 2 years ago. not even half the size it is now. i'd say it's about the size of a quarter right now give or take. i just don't want to jump the gun on it.
thanks for the reply

The key is that it is getting bigger - see a doctor, absolutley! Don't be embarrassed, it's a doctor, it's his job, he sees a lot worse.

Don't worry, Dr.'s have seen every thing under the sun, whatever you show him, (wherever!) he's already seen thousands of times.

If you have been dealing with this for over two years, going to the doc now would NOT be 'jumping the gun".anything on your body that is not supposed to be there and is changing and getting bigger definitely needs to be looked at and evaluated by your Dr.It does not appear like it is going to just go away on it's own.Sooo, just pick up the phone, call your docs office and set an appt to have this evaluated.it could be nothing serious or it could be something needing some sort of intervention. But you will continue to worry yourself and most likely needlessly, until you see your doc.FB

yep, please get this to a doctor, don't worry (like all these have said above) all doctors have seen all sorts of things, in all sorts of different places on the body, and he might even have seen patients with a silimar problem to you...also if your uncomfortable with a man doctor, you can ask if you can see a lady doctor...
