I've been on Cymbalta (30 mg twice a day) since the middle of March and was expecting to be more pain free than I now am. Granted, I do see some improvement, but not what I'd anticipated. I also take Ultram, as needed.
I wonder if anyone out there who's on Cymbalta has experienced pain relief from it farther down the road, like the 3-4 month marker.
Thanks,
Monkeychow

Good question. I will tell you what the trials indicated.
Of the first 12 weeks, during two of the weeks and at no point in between there was a mild drop in pain for the ones that got cymbalta compared to placebo for fibromyalgia. The data beyond that didn't show any benefit beyond 3 months.
There still needs to be some confirmatory work though. Basically transient results without much statistical relevance. I know this isn't how it was reported in the newspaper in the PR-hits the drug company put out, but it is what their data showed.
In other painful conditions they (diabetic neuropathy) they were able to show much more substantial benefits and show longer out that most of them were maintained.
