Well, here's a new thing. For me anyway.

A few days ago, I was in the tub shaving my legs. My skin was so sensitive that it hurt to shave.

When I got out of the tub, I started drying off, (duh, I guess ya'll would know that's what happens after baths) and the towel hurt my legs so bad I almost cried. It felt the same way, if not worse when I tried to put my pants on. I wound up not wearing pants for the rest of the evening because it hurt so bad.

Last but not least, tho this is not really new, per say, I was cutting my hubby's hair with clippers and the vibrations from them hurt my hands so bad I was crying by the time I got done.

Anyway, any one else ever get that feeling on thier skin? Do you know what it might be from?

Yes. Neurontin every 5 hours keeps it at bay otherwise I would have patches constantly, not be able to bathe or be around a/c. I have very soft clothes and sheets.

i call it mismessaging. for reasons only the little fibro bugs understand my body sends messages saying something hurts really bad. now logically i know there is no reason why it should hurt, however the fibro bugs have no idea what logic is. so the message is sent and my brain and skin decide it is agony for anything to touch this or that area.
the neurontin helps a little. i only take it at bedtime for rls. i had to give up bras and panties. like that was hard, giggle! i also had to give up tight clothing. no pants unless they have elastic, yuck, at the waist. there are even times when the weight of one leg touching the other, like crossing them or sleeping on my side, hurts.
after more than 10 years i have yet to find any rhyme or reason to it. it just is. mostly try to relax with it. i laugh at my body now when it does stuff like that. i tell it i know better. doesn't make it stop hurting. just takes the anxiety out of the situation and gives me another excuse to laugh.
peace,

This is the time you want to have an aggressive doctor to throw in some things to stop sensitization into the mix. That sounds like a combo of hyperalgesia and allodyia, pretty typical stuff. While it happens in fibro, it also happens in neuropathic pain states. Lets make sure you don't have any neuropathy going on, eh?

Get yourself on some good pain killers, drugs like topomax to counter the sensitivity, and see if you can't nip it in the bud before it blooms. Make sure you know what you are dealing with though!

Good luck keep us posted my rhuemy appt. is also on the 14th. I have the same thing, skin hurting and sometimes it is worse than others. I just always try to wear comfy clothes and stay away from the people who like to grab your arm and backslap during conversations, LOL. Seriously though, just like bluelake it hurts to cross my legs sometimes or to have my grandson on my lap (I endure the pain for that though) or even to lay down in bed.

Hang in there
