:confused: Hello, I`m a type 2 and keep my blood sugars way down not on any medication as of yet, my thumb really stings at times when I put pressure to do something with that hand, there is no numbness at all I have alot of feeling in it, could that be the start of something though? Thank You

Diabetes frequently affects the ligaments and tendons in the wrists and fingers. It's possible that we you've got is similar to "trigger finger", although it doesn't sound exactly the same.
You may want to have your hand looked at by a rheumatologist, as they are most experienced in that area. If it gets really bad, sometimes cortisone injections work very well. I've had cortisone injections twice in each thumb, once in my wrist, and once in my index finger. In each case the problem either hasn't returned at all or it was several years before I had to have another injection. Of course, steroid injections can wreak havoc with your blood sugar, so you need to take that into consideration. If it isn't bad and it isn't constant, you might want to wait. However, you could also ask about splinting the hand/finger, even if you only do it at night. Sometimes that gives the nerve that is being affected enough rest so that it calms down.
