hey all, i was in rotc for a year or so, but left it due to personal reasons. however, i had a DODMERB and they put down i have 20/700 corrected to 20/15. it was put down that i was fine, just not qualified for aviation
HOWEVER, i went in to the recruiters the other day cuz im probly gunna be enlisting. i told the marine recruiter about my vision and he said hes not sure if i can enlist with vision like that and it would take some difficult wavers to get for vision that bad. he said its the same through all branches in the enlisted and that the limit before you need wavers is 20/400 uncorrected...the reason ROTC said i was fine is cuz officers have a different set of vision requirements and theyre not really gunna be doing hands on work that requires that you have pretty good vision
anyone know how difficult itd be for me to get a waver for 20/700 uncorrected (far) vision? also, is there any way to i guess wean (spelling?) myself onto a weaker prescription so that my vision gets a lil better within a year or so?
im assuming that if i cant get a waver, that i may have to resort to risking myself to lasik or pkr with MEPS' approval
