:) Hi guys, just wanted to do a survey as to how many of you guys who have chronic sinusitis or chronic block nose also have silver amalgam fillings in their teeth. Also can you tell how many filling you have. Just wanted to see if there is some link between these two issues. Thanks guys

I also have chronic sinusitis and I have 8 silver fillings. I have heard various things about the ill effects of silver fillings. Coincidentally, I have to get 4 fillings replaced b/c they are old. My new dentist only does resin fillings, so it will be interesting to see if I notice any differeces.

I have seen 3 ENTs in the last 9 years and not one of them has mentioned such a connection.

It is more of an alternative medicine thing. Most MD's will not have heard about it or mention it.
I'm am not convinced enough of it to have all my fillings replaced right away. But as they start to get old and fall apart, since they need replacing, why not get the white ones? They will look better anyway.

I have CHRONIC sinusitis, infections (5 in 14 months) and stuffy nose everyday along with sinus pain. I have silver fillings in most of my teeth for a total of 12.
Where have you read a connection between the two?

Thanks people for replying but I need more people to contribute.
My ENT specialist, a reknowned specialist in Australia have told me that mercury fillings are the culprit in alot of sinusitis cases. He actually done a study in his practice which include over 400 patients he saw over the years, and of those who have sinusitis, > 90% have silver fillings. He also said that when he suggested this to his patients, of those who got it removed 95 % resolved their sinusitis. I just wanted to see if this result is similar here. He also told me that dentist don't want people to think they are harmful b/c of the massive amounts of lawsuits that would probably come up. He says the best bet for people to get their fillings removed and not wait in few years time to hear that they are indeed harmful. Just wanted to share this news with all of you.

This news has trickled in slowly to the U.S. too, but like I said earlier, so far only alternative minded people seem to be paying attention. It is interesting that a reknowed MD in your country is talking about it.
When I get mine replaced, I will certainly you know if I notice any differences.

I've had sinus and running nose, sneeze, noise in ears for years. I have about 5-7 teeth filled with mercury, the back teeth heavily and one root filling (my problems got worse since that one).
I believe I have mercury poisoning from the fillings, which I am discussing in another thread as I have so many symptoms of it. I'm investigating it privately as the medical and dental profession just tried to fob me off. But I think it's causing my health problems.

I have vasomotor rhinitis (chronic irritable nose and sinuses) and have SEVERAL amalgam fillings. I've had this for 18 years now.
Now that you mention it, my condition did improve somewhat after I had about 6 fillings switched to the resin ones, a few years back. I had more replaced but had to switch back to the amalgam (molars) due to pain and sensitivity from the old formula. I am actually going to be replacing a whole row of them in the fall, so it'll be interesting to note if there is any difference. My plan is to have them ALL replaced with resin.

KitKat, you might want to do some research before your next fillings. Mercury is highly toxic, but some other substances contain toxins too.
It's worth doing research. Some white fillings contain Bisphenol A which is an oestrogen mimicker and can leak estrogen into the body, which has been linked to breast/prostate cancer and male infertility
I'm hoping to have my fillings replaced, but am thoroughly researching with what. I've heard diamondlite is the best thing to have. It's thought to be non-toxic and non-reactive.
A biocompatibility test should always be done before having a filling because some people are allergic to what is in the new stuff.
Just thought I'd share what I've learnt.
PS I've been told that mercury can cause Candida. I noticed that I sometimes get bad rhinitis when I eat fruit, and was told by someone that this could be Candida which is aggravated by sugars. I also heard that Candida actually helps to stop the effects of mercury, so might not be a bad thing to have.
Having the fillings out initself isn't enough to get out health back. We need to get the mercury out of our body and there are various ways of doing that. I've heard that Andy Cutler's Book: Amalgam Illness, Diagnosis and Treatment contains a lot of info on how to get better. I'm going to try and get it.

Look up Andrew Hall Cutler, MD or Hal Huggins, MD....you may think differently. It's the things our dentists never tell us about that should concern us, but this is JMHO ya know? ;)
Oh and BTW, chronic sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, tinnitus and I have 8 amalgams, 4 silver crowns and 6 cavitations (spaces in the bone left from teeth being pulled)....in the process of having them all removed/and cleaned by a biologic dentist.

I never knew about Amalgam Illness 2 weeks ago. I'd heard of mercury poisoning, but never taken it seriously enough except to have white fillings everytime I needed a filling the last 7 years - just to be on the safe side. Now I find out they might be leaking estrogen (and my estradiol level was over 400 last test) but of the 2 evils, I'm glad it's not neuro toxin mercury.
But now, having read up on it, I totally believe I have it. All my symptoms are of mercury poisoning. I'm having trouble getting my friends and family to believe me, but I am certain of it and am going to see a specialist about it.
I have mild tinnitis too - just a constant faint noise in my ears.

Sinusitis for years - Have had 90% replaced, didn't make a big sifference for me. I'm now on a sugar & yeast free diet with Nystatin powder and I can't begin to say how my health has changed.
