I really don't know if my problem is IBS.. Maybe someone experienced can give me some insight. The problems started happening with a bout of depression months ago.

My main problem is straining and the feeling of an incomplete BM.
I really don't have any stomach pain very often.(I did for about a month)
I do stay away from some foods now, I never did before.
Water seems to run right through me.
I feel bloated at lot of the time and it's not relieved by a BM.
The high fiber and water diet is not working very well.

I just don't know but trying to manage this is killing me due to hemmorhoids.
Does this sound like IBS??

Alien,

It does sound like IBS, but, let me say that you should schedule an appointment with an internal meds doctor so that he can rule out any other disorders. Always, get your doctors opinion first.

Good Luck,

a ;)

Thanks aaronon,

I really don't have trigger foods and shifting ab pain like most.??

What other disorders would an internal meds Dr. look for?

Did you have several GI tests before you were DX with IBS?

Best wishes..Alien

Dear Alien,

I had the colonoscopy, and when that came back normal, he diagnosed me with IBS. I have had constipation for years, and he said all that time it was IBS. He did say that my colon was a little larger than normal, but that was because of the constipation year after year after year.

I don't have trigger foods either....I know when I eat something one day, it may hurt my stomach, but two days later is doesn't. I'm not big on trial and error or cutting out things just to see, I'm rather lazy after working all day, going home starting work again, raising two kids and taking care of my husband.

Doctors would probably look for Chron's, diverticulitis, there's many things that they can check you for. The colonoscopy is the main test that will allow them to diagnose you for IBS (AS FAR AS I KNOW). I'm not aware of any other. Also your health history is important for any doctor really, so that they can use that in their diagnoses.

Just be sure that you go see a doctor and let him look around to determine your problem.

A
