I've just had the results of my biopsy and it's confirmed I have IgA ... albeit, in the initial stages, but to combat further deterioration of my kidneys, my Nephrologist just prescribed Cellcept to go with my Diovan and fish oils.
Is anyone else taking Cellcept? Any side effects?
Thanks, Hi.
My son (14) was on Cellcept for over a year. Didn't really help him much. He has MPGN unknown type. He didn't have to many side effects, he did have muscle cramping in his fingers and toes. Because Cellcept is an immune suppresent he got colds/flu's easier then before.
I hope this helps.

Thanks JSCA.
I know the alternatives - steriods, cyclosporine, etc - potentially have worse side effects than CellCept. My worries are how my immune system is going to be affected, as I rarely get a cold or the flu ... in fact, I can't remember the last time I was sick ...
I'm hoping that my immune system isn't weakened all that much that I'm constantly having to battle colds and flus.
As I said, I think the alternatives could be much worse.
I talked with my doctor and he mentioned one of his patients had a protenuria count of 1.7 and after 10 months on CellCept, it had dropped back into the normal range and was now at 0.45 ... my count was only 0.93 when I was diagnosed with IgA, which is mild, but he's wanting to retard any further damage immediately.
Cheers, Hilander.
