Does anyone here get constipated alot or have been constipated?

I have had the problem since i was born. It is like every other year I get constipated. I always think that it wont happen again and it does.

I am constipated now and it HURTS so bad. It is kinda like really bad labor pains.

I took metamucil pill and two other pills to help me go but so far nothing so I may end up having to get an enama I REALLY hate them.

I just wanted to no if anyone else had the problem because it makes me feel better knowing that I dont go threw this alone.

:o I just wish this would go away..Im taking my son to the doc on the 12th and asking her if it would be a good idea to get on the two pills I was on while pregnant. I did not expriance any constiaption with them.

I thought it was really bad gas pain but I went to bed and woke up close to 7 hours later and it was thier and worse.

The pains are every 10-15 minutes. They last for anywhere from a few seconds to a minute. I am sitting here squeezing my sons mini eyore and a ball breathing. You would think I was in labor :p

I just wish this problem would stop. I have suffred fro mit for 18 years and even landed myself in the hospital for it. When I was rushed to the hospital and had a tube down my throat I never hid me being constipated again. As soon as I felt it I went to my mom and told her.

I do not want to be in the hospital again. Althought I hate enamas and they hurt it is better to go a few minutes to an hour of pain instead of everyday going threw pain all day long.

Dear Cutie,

I am always constipated. Sometimes I don't go for weeks at a time. It does become painful and it hurts alot. Have you ever tried Zelnorm? I did but, it didn't work for me. You may give that a try. Ask your doctor.

There are many kinds of over the counter pills, like stool softeners, fiber pills, etc. that you can buy. It's all trial and error, to see what works for you.

I had the colonoscopy, everything was fine. Did you have one yet? Once they know for sure it's IBS, your doctor can give you more ideas on what can be done for it.

Good Luck,

A ;)

I have IBS-C although I suspect YASMIN, even though I have taken it over 2 yrs... symptoms increase.. but constipation/hemrroids/bleeding/abdominal pain got me to the Dr and referred. Zelnorm RX caused numbness right away. Kristalose RX gave me belching and burping all the time.. so after a colonoscopy, the gastro Doc put me on Miralax RX (generic is glycolax).
The more I talk to others and patients of my own, I realize constipation is becoming very common! But shouldn't be accepted! I'm no longer embarrased to talk about it.
I was VERY skeptical esp since I am a Nutritionist, and I do the right things!!
Try the Miralax/Glycolax!!! It's the best stuff. Large bottle of white powder, mixes like benefiber... no taste! If you have insurance, under generic is cheap and lasts a long time. My Doc gave RX for 1-2x/days (i don't have to take it that often). so they gave me 2 bottles/month for the same price of one... Don't worry it just makes you normal. Instead of BM every 24-36 hours I have BM 2-3x/24 hours! Little to no straining! It's wonderful. I see kids on it at the WIC program also (where I work). My grandfather also takes it... I take it about every 3-4 days. Also... If you eat sandwiches, try the new Natures Own Double Fiber Bread. 5 grams/slice and tastes decent! also lower calorie (40 kcal/slice) and has has calcium! Can't beat that! I"m going off Yasmin to try to get better. I am getting addt'l symptoms now but almost no gas and constipation free most of the time! Hope this offers some insight to you.
