Hi, I read a post that you responded too, and I'm curious. I hope that I'm not being too nosey, but how high was your pulse running that would lead you into heart faliure in only seven months? That's very scarey to hear. How did they diagnose it, though an echo? Thanks if you can answer, I'm new to learning about the heart.

My pulse ran constantly at 160bpm for about seven months. For the first few months I felt good, so I said to myself, "As long as I feel good, if my heart wants to run fast, then let it!"

After a few months I started having increased breathing problems. I have asthma, so I just figured that my asthma was getting worse. Then I started sweating badly after eating, and getting tired more easily, and finally I had problems breathing while lying down. I had to prop myself up with pillows.

I then checked myself into a heart hospital to have my heart checked. They examined me at the hospital and before they took any tests at all, the heart doctor told me that I was in heart failure. Subsequent testing of my heart proved the doctor's initial finding (I forget what tests they took).

Since then it has been quite a battle, and I have had to learn a lot about heart rhythm, heart meds, blood pressure and the effects of aging on heart failure.
