About six weeks ago I received oral sex and also a hand job (her spit was used as lubrication). I felt fine for a while but had some dry skin on my penis. I thought this was normal because I had experienced it before and thought it was just due to chaffing from my underwear. I applied lotion (as I had in the past with dry skin) and it was fine after that. A couple of weeks ago I started to get dry skin on my hands with little, painless bumps. They too went away and I just have a little dry skin. A few days ago, however, I noticed a little scab on the head of my penis (only one). I examined the rest of the area and there wasn't really anything present beyond a little redness. It is not painful and doesn't really itch excessively. I'm worried, though, because of the timing, the appearance of the sore, and the fact that I had little bumps on my hands that this may be herpes. At first I thought the scab was just a scrape or something from chaffing but now I'm more concerned after doing some research. Also, yesterday a slightly painful, single blister appeared on my finger. I also have a few pimples on my upper legs, but I have had those off and on for years (even before sexual contact). I have not had "flu-like" symptoms but have had a cold on and off for the past couple of weeks. It's mostly a stuffy nose and occasional coughing or sore throat. If this matters at all, I was also slightly constipated for a day or two last week. Does this sound like herpes to you? If not, what else could it be? Also, assuming the worst what kind of precautions should I take to make sure it does not spread to my mouth, eyes, or anywhere else? Lastly, how long does it usually take for the "initial outbreak" of herpes to heal? Please give me any and all of the observations you can! Thanks.

OK If I were you I would go to the doctor and get it checked out. It could be somthing else completly innocent. Some of the symptoms that you are describing sound like it could be what you think it is. If you don't get it checked out evey time you get something as small as a bug bite you'll get worried. You don't want to live that way. It is just better to know.

When I first noticed some signs I ignored them. Always saying to myself well if I notice it again then I'll get checked out. Then I had a really bad outbreak and I knew that it could not go uncheked any longer. Unfortunatly my fears were confirmed.

To prevent spreding it to other parts I think that the best method is just washing your hands. I feel like I wash mine compulsively now. Also try to aviod putting your hands in your mouth or eyes.

To remain on the positive side just tell yourself (if you do have it)that in all honesty it is just a skin rash. It dosn't make you crippled, def, or blind.

I hope I helped a little. I am fairly new to this myself, maybe there will be other great responses and I can learn something too. Good luck! :)
