Hi!
I wasn't sure what board to go to with this but for the past year or so I have had a bump on the inside of my cheek. It is pretty small, fills with fluid several times a day and then bursts. The fluid is clear and has no odor. The bump does not hurt (but I do find myself playing with it with my tongue). At first I thought it was a dental problem but two dentists have told me my teeth are fine and the bump would be on my gum, not halfway up my cheek.
Anyway, it's more annoying than anything and I'd just like to know what it is. My doctor just said to ignore it if it doesn't bother me - he doesn't think it's anything important, but I'd still like to at least know what it is and where the fluid is coming from. It does seem to fill and burst when I eat so maybe related to the salivary glands??
Any advice is appreciated.

I get these too -- as a matter of fact I've got one right now! They are just like little blisters and so that's what I've always thought that they were -- blisters caused by irritation from teeth. Mine go away in a day or 2 though. If you've had the same blister for a year now maybe a tooth needs to get filed?

Hey Ct Mom - I'm no doctor but that sounds like a cyst to me... especially because you have had it so long...... And it's probably good news that your doc dosent think it's anything important...... BUT if it were in my mouth it would bother me a lot....
I think I would try gargling for a week or two.... as many times a day as possible.... I'd try warm salt water first (mix 3 or 4 spoons of table salt in a small glass of pretty warm hot water).. then take a mouthful and hold it for a minute or more... I'd repeat that until the glass was empty and do this several times a day.......
If that didnt work I might try a little gargling with hydrogen peroxide....... (it's harmless but kills bad bacteria)
If it dosent go away after that... it's worth a trip to a nose, throat, and ear specialist or a dentist for a "Second Opinion". Hope this helps... thats what I would do anyway :) :) :)

Hi CTMOM,
Sounds like a cyst to me also. I had one years ago. It was on the inside of my bottom lip and I had mine cut out. I think that is the only way it will go away but I'm not sure. I was twelve then, so I don't recall any options. My Orthodontist is the one who referred me for surgery to have it removed. And it was probably not necessary to remove it, but it was making my lip look swelled out on one side and seemed to get larger every time it drained.
