Does anyone out there have a mitochondrial disease or know anything about it? The doctors believe our 6 year old son may have one. They are doing several tests to check. He was diagnosed with autism three years ago..but he was doing great until 6 months ago when he regressed dramatically (he doesn't even talk now or understand us). Six months ago he was also diagnosed with Epilepsy. His epilepsy is head drop seizures and complex partial and have been uncontrolled by medicine. He also is small in stature for his age, had high lactate, constipation, etc. They think all these things in combination might mean he has a metabolic disease. Does anyone know anything about mitochondrial disease??
