You just don't want to eat (can't put food in your mouth)? Can you take in liquids? If you are concerned about starving, go see a doctor or someone who can help you.

Why don't you want to eat? Afraid of getting sick? Afraid of gaining weight?

Wow, I thought I was the only one like that! If someone close to me has a "stomach thing" going on, I won't eat either! I WANT to, but I am so scared! Yea, we have a "problem", but at least you know you are not alone with this! I was so afraid of getting sick, I made myself SO bad in 2002 that I ended up continuously nauseated! I finally had to see a doctor and he told me my electrolites had gotten really low - almost like what happens to an anorexic! So please, eat, you will be really really sorry like I was! I don't even think you are as bad as me!

If I were you I'd see a psychiatrist - meds can help with that - I've had help with that before.

Right now I'm going through a weird phase where my mouth is hungry but my body is trying to reject food. Like my stomach's in knots and doesn't want to accept anything. I deal with this by drinking vegetable juice from a juicer, or plain kefir with fresh fruit blended in, or oatmeal, something nice and bland. It's frustrating because I'm anemic, too, and I really need the calories.

Try to get something into you two or three times a day, but very nutritious, like the stuff I mentioned above. You won't gain weight but you won't starve, either.

Its not a good cycle....you dont eat, because your afraid of being sick...yet not eating can also make you sick. I would just get some sort of thing like some of them ensure shakes, or just to tie you over there are other things, like V8 smoothies. They are very tasty, but they also have vitamins and soy protien so there pretty good for you. If you can at least drink you will be ok, but dont let this continue for too long. If it last longer than a day or two you should probably talk to a doctor, it would be considered getting out of hand by then. Its likely panick/anxiety related, and some meds could be very helpful, maybe you even have other fears/stressors that you just think are normal and arent.

Emily, meds CAN help calm your stomach - I'm on two already, an anti-depressant and a tranquilizer-type drug. Even on these, I feel a bit queasy.

Ginger candy, ginger ale, spearmint and peppermint tea (and candy) can help calm your stomach too.

I absolutely hate throwing up, but every once in a great while, it can really loosen up the tension in your gut. I would try not to do it on a full stomach - except maybe after you've drunk a bunch of water. I'm not advocating bulimia here. Another thing to relax your stomach is a heating pad or castor oil pack. And drink sports drinks like Gatorade so you don't get dehydrated (which makes you feel SICKER). Nice little vicious cycle.
