Hi. I was recently stung by a wasp (Thursday- about 2:00pm). Now, almost a day and a half later the site is still red, slightly tender, VERY itchy, and slightly warm to the touch. I already take Allegra 180 for allergies so I didn't want to take bendrly. On the affected site I first used a baking soda and water mix and today I have been using Aclovate cream (a prescription used for rashes- I had it filled for my allergies).... but it still itchs sooo bad.

This is the first wasp sting Ive ever had- if anyone can share their experience- how long the redness lasted- was their site also extremely itchy and slightly warm - I would appreciate it!

Thanks
Sara

I get stung by bees and yellow jackets all the time and the itchyness, redness, warmth, last about a week for me.

My favorite for any insect bite is MSM lotion. (Mosquitos and Buffalo gnats love me and think I'm their all-you-can-eat buffet every time I walk outside :D ) I buy the NOW brand at my local health food store. For me, it will stop itching and swelling within the hour and the bite heals fast after that.

You can make a paste of baking soda and water and apply for some relief, and I have even used toothpaste.

Benadryl Gel for topical application will help the itch.

Be sure the "stinger" is not still in the bite area.

baking soda paste works well, but, hard to keep on for long period of time. I have good luck with Benadryl Gel for itchy places.

You can wet cotton ball with Benadryl anahistamine (interal kind) and tape over the area and it will also help.

You're lucky! If I get stung by a wasp, it can swell well beyond the sting area, hurt like ****, and if I don't treat it immediately, I could get anaphylactic shock.

Anyway, I treat stings with aloe vera - the live plant. I cut a leaf in half and place it gel-side down on the sting area and leave it there about fifteen minutes. Ice is also helpful to "cool" the itch.

I am sorry you where stung by a wasp. I was stung when I was a little girl by a wasp inside my nose and it hurt as kerry 1 said. I don't remember for how long days after I know all day until the night I was in agony!
try meat tenderizer on it, that helps with ants, wasp, bee stings.
I hope you get to feeling better.
