I know this may sound a silly question but i really need to know. Do you know of anyone who has had a facelift and years after their face returned to where it was before. I had a facelift 4 years ago now and it is terrible. Will it return. Please help. Many thanks.

Surgery won't stop the aging process. So yes, your face will someday get back to where it was before.

Hi. I had a facelift just over 4 years ago and fortunately I still looks good. Perhaps your doctor was very conservative and did not build up the muscles or do whatever else should be done. A good face lift should last at least 10 years, not four [even though you age every day].

My mom had a facelift in 1983 and she still has great results. When the muscle under the chin is tightened, it's done pretty much permanently. My mom's chin is a bit slack now but at least she has a nice neckline, which she never had before the surgery. The facelift part still looks very good too, just a little looser.

I agree that your doctor was probably too conservative in how much tissue he removed. I would just get the procedure done, by a very reputable doctor this time. Go wherever you have to, USA, wherever. Its worth it.

Thank u all for your replies. My problem is that my surgeon just put me down and cut. If he was conservative i would not have a problem. This PS literally has removed the underlying fat from my face leaving me with a freaky witchy appearance. And YES joy i did do my homework and research before surgery but as i said before surgery is a gamble. I am trying to get some reconstruction work but its so terribly hard. Many things available like fat transfer, alloderm etc do not seem to work for alot of people and i am at a loss as to what to do now. In my dreams i keep thinking i may return to where i was before surgery but its just a dream. Thank u all for your replies. Love Holly

Holly,
I am so sorry for the hell you have been through. I know anything can happen with PS, but please do not give up hope that you will find some way to have reconstructive surgery or some procedure to help you. It may take you a while. What about going or checking out the best hospital reasonably close to you, and meeting with some of the top nurses or possibly an anesthesist who has worked for many PSs. I feel nurses are more helpful about the best doctors that do all kinds of surgery. Another doctor never says anything bad again one of their own. This is just a thought, and I'm certainly rooting for you.

Dear Joy, thank u for your kind message, yes i have been to other surgeons but at the time i was too emotionally unstable to go through any kind of procedure offered to me, ie silicon implants and fat transfer which i am still hesitant to go along with. I have heard of a dr bermant who apparently has a different technique but i am still unsure whether to trust another surgeon. I have even thought of silicon injections......but have decided against that option also. I have also heard of bioplastique but again i am not sure that. In the uk its very difficult to get to the nurses to ask opinions etc. i look at the postings everyday in case someone somewhere comes up with an answer. I am still dreaming and hoping Joy. Love Maureen
