My husband has a stone that is ready to enter the bladder. I keep telling him to drink and drink to flush this out of him. I am worried about him going in for a stent or the litho thing. Any advice to ease my worrying would help. Thanks

Well it is a week today that I rushed my husband to the ER and the 5 mm stone has not come out yet. My husband had an appt on Friday with the Uro doc and he said it should pass within two days. How long does the docs wait until they would want to do a procedure? Also What comes first the litho or the stent? I heard drinking alot of water can flush this out of him if he is lucky, is that true?

Drinking lots of water will help. It's really hard to say when a stone will pass. Some are in a hurry and some take their own sweet time. I have taken 2 weeks to pass a stone. The pain would come and go depending on where the stone was. It's always better to pass a stone on your own, but if it's too big and gets stuck it will have to be removed. I have never had a stent and my litho was not too bad. It was like having the mild flu for about 3 days and being sore in the kidney area. Good luck to your husband. If he doesn't like the water, lemonaid or cranberry juice are good. Keep us informed. :)

I have great news my husband passed the stone today. It took 10 days but it finally came out. Now we will bring it to the doctor to get tested.
