Hi All,

I need help and this looks like the place that I have been searching for! I've had some really strange symptoms the last few months and I'm not sure what's going on. My family physician thinks it's due to stress but I don't think so. I have also been seeing a chiro but the symptoms aren't going away. I'm a 40 yr. old female in great health except for the following:

My symptoms:

1. Lower back pain.
2. Chest pain (around the sternum area)
3. Leg pain (sometimes sharp pains going down my thighs)
4. Neck pain
5. A strange sensation in my arms (feels like someone is putting pressure on the nerves in my elbows)
6. Knee pain that comes and goes

Does this sound like Fibro to anyone?

I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks, Melzy

welcome melzy!
sorry to take so long to find you. there is a post called "the list". well worth printing out and reading.
stress takes many forms. if you do have fibromyalgia it feeds like a hungry bear on stress. for a snack it loves fear. fill out "the list" and take it to your doctor. this will help both of you determine what is happening in your body.
i cannot say if you have fms. i am not a doctor and i can't see you. remember that there are many doctors in the world. get a second opinion. what if any meds do you take?
i hope it is only stress and maybe a little aging of the ole bod. you do not want fibromyalgia. it's a bizarre illness that requires total life changes to adapt to.
again welcome to our little family.
peace,

Thanks to bluelakelady for responding and helping me. I will definitely read the list and get more informed. As far as meds...I only take levothyroxine for my thyroid which is just slightly off kilter. Other than that I'm very healthy normally. I'm beginning to wonder if all of the chiro appts. have thrown my body into a tailspin with all of the spinal manipulations that are being performed. That should have some effect on the muscles throughout. And yes, at 40, I should expect some changes and pains but no one likes to admit that!

Thanks agian for your help....I will stay tuned in to this great site.

Sincerely, Melzy

you are most welcome my new friend. perhaps you might try massage therapy instead of spinal manipulation? you bet it has an effect on the soft tissue.
i do fibromyalgia deep tissue massage. it hurts, actually quite a bit, however after a couple of days i feel so much better in the region we work on. my massage therapist says i am an "ancient ruin" and we laugh about her working on a body with rigor mortis. it is what it is. we laugh and sometimes i cry. i also do myofacial release therapy. also painful. i do feel it is worth it. my therapist says it is my tissue that has forgotten it's purpose, not my bones. our bones are the frame work. it is the tissue that is supposed to support the bones, not the other way around. i have such a silly body.
i also have a tiny thyroid imbalance and take a very low dose of synthroid.
new question for you. are you entering menopause yet? i am post meno now. i remember the increase in pain during menopause. i take a tiny dose of estrace to restore balance. estrace is made from yams and contains no male hormones.
i am delighted you found us. we are a good group. you will find kindness, compassion and information here. and love, unconditional and wonderful.
peace,
bluelakelady
