I seem to have a weird feeling in my throat. It feels like there is a lump or something. It might be swollen but i have not got anything stuck there.

Any suggestions as to relieving this?

PS. It only seems to come on when i think about it, but its very hard not to think about it when its happening.

Thanks

Does it hurt LESS when you swallow? If so then it's more than likely an esophageal spasm. It'll go away in a day or 3. This can happen from any sort of strain such as twisting your neck or tongue, vomiting or yelling. It can also happen from stress.

I have the same thing now. I've had it for about 4 days. It feels like I have phlem in my throat or something. It doesn't "hurt", just feels funny. Could it be some kind of allergy or something? I have heard that this feeling can be caused by stress.

As long as you can breathe and swallow alright, it's most likely one of 2 things. one it's "globus" from stress/anxiety - I had it for months and months. The other is an irritation from GERD (acid reflux) - if it's the latter, medication can help it.

Sometimes you get a globulus sensation in your throat. It feels like you have a lump in your throat and swallowing food or liquid helps it for a short time. It is related to GERD as one cause and stress is another. I had that sensation one time for a couple months and one day it just went away.

If you have other symptoms such as sour tongue or heartburn, that could be GERD.

This could probably be a number of things. But mine turned out to be Thyroid Disease. Your thyroid gland is in your throat, and when you have an embalancing of the chemicals being released from it, it can be called Hypothyroidism or Hyperthyroidism (depending on if you release too much or not enough). All of this can cause a goiter (a swelling of the gland) which makes it feel like you have a hard time swollowing. You can do a search online to look up some of the other symptoms and see if you are having other symptoms of it. If so, I suggest getting it checked out. It can turn into a serious thing if you are not put on medication to balance out your hormones.

Good luck,
- Blaze
