I am a 19 year old male. I have a long list of symptoms, but so far nobody has been able to give me a diagnose. I was a very healthy youth until about two years ago. I have been ‘out of business’ for more than a year, and still I dont see the end of the tunnel. I am not able to go to school nor to work. I am at home – that’s it. Not necessary to say, I am very grateful for any hint that could help me forward. I just can’t stand it anymore.

I have seen several specialists. To shorten the list of alternatives MS, MG and psychiatric illness are ruled out. I have also taken B12 injections over a period of a few months.

I feel fatigue all the time. I have monocular double vision. I have a strange feeling of not knowing the positions of my limbs. There are indications of stress - urine and blood samples show slightly elevated DA, NA and cortisole. Blood tests also shows a little elevated AST – reason not known. I have experienced differences in left/right hand surface temperature at several occasions (app 2 degrees). What really confuse doctors is that physical exercise temporarily lightens all my symptoms (but it is very hard to do the exercise !). I am not able to concentrate on intellectual tasks (like solving maths). A few minutes of work, and I am totally wiped out.

I have taken three cerebral MRI and one MRI angio - all negative. I have taken a SPECT – which indicated decreased CBF in parietal lobe and cerebellum – reason unknown.
Spinal fluid is checked twice - all results normal.

Drugs which are reported to have dopamine stimulating effect (e.g. ritalin, effexor) make all my symptoms worse. I don’t smoke, but more or less by accident , I once smoke a cigarette. Nicotine had a dramatic negative effect, which lasted for hours.

Anyone out there who have an idea what this could be ?? Please let me know !!

Jurgen

Sounds a lot like what I have been through for 11 years. Adding in joint pain.....Mine has been put down as Fibromyalgia. Not much help for that....Sometimes antidepressants can help it a bit.

I have tried a couple with only a little help from one, but lots of weight gain. The other I had an allergic reaction to....

WHEN I can get myself to do more, I do feel a little better. I think the activity helps fight pain.

I wish you answers soon....

Have you ever had an MRI done on your actual spine area, like the c or upper T spine?a couple of symptoms that you mentioned, the not knowing where your limbs are, positionally, and the temp issues really struck me as I have some rather significant spinal cord damage done due to a surgery that was done on the inside of my spinal cord and i hAVE those same symptoms. You could have something in the cord that is affecting certain spinal tracts(I have damage to the thalamic and cortico tracts, among other things).I really do think that a much more closer look at your actual cord would be in order at this point. There is always the possibility that all of your symptoms are related to some sort of spinal issues.During the other tests you had on your head, part of the spine would show in these but would need a direct MRI on the area to really get the best and most invasive look possible.good luck and please keep me posted on what you find out.Marcia

Thanks for your response.

No - I have not taken a MRI of the spinal cord, and noone has ever discussed this as a possibility.
I dont know about anything in the past that possible could cause a physical damage of the spinal cord, but I will for certain check this out.

I have several symptoms in addition to those listed above. To day, I could not even think of driving a vehicle. Information on where is brake, where is clutch etc are not readily available.

again ; thank you

Jurgen

The cavernous hemangioma that I had inside my cord was NOT caused by anything that i did, like an injury of some sort.It was there at birth and I just did not know it until it just happened to show up on an MRI that I had done for something else. This IS a possibility for you as well.No one can tell me just why this formed there, but it was and still partially is,there. At this point, since you have done every other imaginable test to try to find the cause of your problems,I would ask your doc for a referral for one.If for some reason, he does not want to do this for you, just ask him if he can tell you, right now, just what IS WRONG.If he cannot, then demand this test.Sometimes when you are searching for answers, you may have to get a little 'icky" with docs and other medical professionals. The system can really suck sometimes but you just have to take charge and tell people what your needs are and why. They will usually go along with what you feel if you can justify things to them. Please let me know just how things go.Marcia
