View Full Version : Am I at risk???

About a year and a half ago I had unprotected sex and began to stress over the HIV possibilty. This past October (7 months later) I took a Home Access Express HIV-1 test and it came back negative. I had not had intercourse since that time. On 5/1/05 I had intercourse (with condoms) with someone who's status is unknown. I know that condoms are an excellent way to protect myself, however, he did not pull out right away after ejaculation and began to loose his erection while still inside. I'm almost positive that the condoms did not slip off at any time. He says that he was very careful with them. Is it possible that semen could have leaked out?
Almost exactly one week after this encounter I began to develop nausea and constipation as well as a head cold (sore throat, runny nose, congestion). No fever, and my glands are always slightly noticable on the right side of my neck because I was diagnosed with Epstein Barr a year and a half ago. I am still getting occasional nausea after eating.
What are the chances that I might have picked up the virus from this encounter and when is the soonest I can take another test?
Are the Home Access tests pretty accurate?
I took a Home Access test exactly 30 days after the encounter and am still waiting for results.
I'm trying to tell myself that we used condoms and there is nothing to worry about but I can't help this anxiety.
Some advice would be greatly appreciated!

As long as the condom stayed in tact and had no tears in it and no semen got loose then you are in the ( slim to none zone )
You may have just caught a bug ..... And that's all .
Home access is the same test as they give in the doctors office the only difference is that you collect the sample youerself and mail it to the lab youre self .
It is also the only ( home test that is FDA approved ) and now they even have a home access test for hepatitis-C .
In good health .............

Usually condoms are very tight at the bottom to prevent that sort of thing from happening - b.c it happens! If there were any leakage, im sure you would have felt it. IF you're pretty worried, it doesn't hurt to test. Keep us posted
