Hey all,

Has anyone had any great success from a chiropractor?? I have L spastic hemiplegia CP and I have an extremely tight torso area. I have been told that I have several ribs displacing and causing pain and I should have them adjusted. I am not very educated with chiropractic methods and so I have my doubts. I have lots of trouble when my own docs try to manipulate me, and they are familiar with my problems. Does anyone have anything to share about chiropractic treatments, good or bad?

Thanks,

Lastramy

Heard this from the folks over at PMR: Chiropractic is fine, but sometimes those high velocity movements are too rough on CP muscles and can cause more spasticity. I know people with CP who swear by it, and some who avoid it like the plauge. More gentle, muscular manipulation by a DO might be better. But, if that hasn't worked then try chiro once, can't hurt. BTW, I know I owe you... ahem... paragraphs. Work has been biting me in the butt lately!

Hope all is well!

Nic

Actually Njenn, I did talk to my massage therapist about it and she said that a lot of manipulation would just fire the nervous system. She sees it in massaging me. If she tries to go a little further than just "very gentle" the nerves start chiming in their tunes. I told her she should go for chiropracting liscense. She actually thought about it. I would like the ribs realigned but don't want someone to make them worse. They aren't too bad right now so I will probably hold off for now until I can get a little more researched on it. I might email PMR doc and see what he has to say.
Thanks! Nice to "see" you again.
