i'd like to know someones opinion if what i have sounds like cystic fibrosis or just an everyday cold... well it all started when i was 17 or 18 and i am now 21... i cough alot because i feel very conjested in my throat and chest.. in the mornings its the worst, but it never goes away and when i get sick im always very conjested with cold like stuff in me, i always seem to have to kind of hit myself on the chest and back to help it come up and it does seem to... my doctors say i have asthma, and one laughed when i mentioned cystic fibrosis but i dont believe i have asthma, and also i get so clogged up with this stuff that sometimes i do weeze... but its like im always stopped up like before i eat i feel i have to clear my throat and cough, because it feels so clogged up... can anyone help me out, i was wondering if this sounds like that or not? thank you

u sound a bit like me. i have allergies, and my post nasal drip gets very thick and chokes me in my throat and bronchial area. they say i have asthma too but its well-controlled. i dont have any symptoms of cf other than the sinus problems with phlegm in my throat that never goes away. they, too laugh almost at me when i bring it up. i am going to a pulmo in about a month just to make sure everything is ok. they said if u had cf wou would def. know, but quite a few ppl are diagnosed later in life. who knows. i always have to hack a wad of mucus up after i eat too, what gives? i have to take nexium too for mild lpr, but i dont see any difference. good luck to u

No, it doesnt, if you are 21 you would have been diagnosed a long time ago I should think... unless you have some kinda of extreemly mild CF.. but thats unlikely.. then again I am no doctor, just a 19 year old with CF going by past experiance ;o

It doesn't sound like it
Yes you can have CF and not be diagnosed for awhile! I know adults who were diagnosed with it well into adulthood. I knew an 18 year old who wasn't diagnosed until she had a baby and that baby was diagnosed with CF and they did DNA testing on the mother only to find out she wasn't just a carrier...she has CF also!
I was diagnosed at 16 and no mine isn't "mild", I've had noticeable symptoms since I was really young but no doctor ever tested me until I was deathly ill.
