Before i even go to a doc, do you have to go to your doc every 30 days to get a re-fill on meds??
I know most ADD meds are schedule 2, so no re-fills.
I can barely get enough time off work to go see a doc to begin with.
What do people do? I know docs cant call in meds either, you must have a paper triplicate form in my state.
thanks!

When I started meds the doc gave me a prescription for 30 days. Then I went back after 30 days so the doc could see how I was doing. I was doing just fine so then I got a prescription for 4 months. When my son started on meds it was the same thing. I've only been on meds for 6 months so I don't know about the long run. Hope this helps.

My son is due for his first refill of Ritalin. My son's doctor informed me last night that I had to go into the office and pick up the rx form. I don't need an appointment, just call the office when he is due for a refill and they will have it ready when I get there. It's a pain, but the state I live in is very strict about refills on these types of meds because people have abused them.

We use to live about a hour away from my son's doctor...after 30 days - when the doc decided I go go 3 months and then plus on seeing him,,,I had to give him self addressed envelopes and I had to call and say - send a script... The state I live you have 5 days to fill - and I never had a problem getting it in time---I never waited till the last day or anything, but maybe this could be an option.

When my primary care physician started handling my prescriptions, he kept making mistakes (the pharmacy kept rejecting the triplicates so I would have to take them back to the doctors office, then back to the pharmacy again!).
Like who has time to do this #$% twice?!!! Also, it was uncomfortable for me to keep shoving prescription mistakes in my doctors face so I came up with this brilliant idea.
I started faxing refill requests to his office in memo style:
DATE:
TO:
FROM:
SUBJECT:
Prescription Name
Dosage
Number of tables
How to take
My Name
Address
Phone
Date of Birth
Please call ###-#### when prescription is ready to be picked up.
Thanks!
My Name
My doctor told my daughter, when she was visiting his office, that he really liked the way I handled my prescription refill requests. All I have to do is change the date on my fax template and send it. This has worked out really well for all three of us (my doctor, me and the pharmacy).
