Has anyone had any experience with provigil for treating ADHD. My doctor recomended it for my daughter as an alternative to stimulants as she devloped a tic while on stimulants. Does anyone know how it works, or what the side efects are?

Provigil is a medicine that I use to treat excessive sleepiness caused by my sleep disorder. I've heard that it is also being used for ADD, memory enhancement, and acts as a mood brightening psychostimulant. It works in the anterior of the hypothalmus. It helps you stay awake and vigilant.
In my med pack, it says the most common side effects of Provigil are headace, nausea, nervousness, stuff nose, diarrhea, back pain, anxiety, trouble sleeping, dizzinessm and upset stomach.
Provigil may cause the following infrequent but serious side affects:
Chest Pain
Mental Problems
Allergic reactions, like a rash, hives, or other allergic reaction.
There are more side effects----talk to your doctor---but really talk to your pharmacist---they're a little more familar I believe.
