My 6 year old was resently diagnosed ADHD. He has been on meds for almost 2 months. He know why he takes his meds, but I did not tell him he is ADHD. I'm not sure what to say. I don't want him to think it is a reason not to try. He gets frustrated so easy, but I can usally get him to try other things.
Should I tell him he has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or should I just wait until he is older and can understand it better.
He knows what the meds are for I just didn't tell him the name of the condition. Those of you with ADHD children what did you do?

I went back and forth with the decision to tell my 5yr old boy when he was diagnosed. His doctor / school counselor told me - yes let him know,,,,So we had bought books and obviously he is there at the doctor and made him fully aware of what was going on... I really think it helped him. It made it clear to him, why things were happening when they did,,and why he was on meds and why he was feeling the way he did at certain times. We decided to do it and are happy with that decision.
