Can HIV be contracted by giving oral sex to an HIV positive man and getting his pre-ejaculatory fluid in your mouth? What about his semen on your skin/?I'm sorry, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to HIV/AIDS.

What about his semen on your skin/?I'm sorry, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to HIV/AIDS. panaSONIQUE 06-09-2005, 02:16 PM No need to apologize! Oral sex is considered a low risk activity, because there are enzymes in our mouths that pretty much destroy the virus. Unless you have massive open sores/cuts in your mouth, then it's usually not a high risk route of transmission. Same with skin, it acts as a barrier, as HIV is a weak virus. Our genitals, however, consist of mucous membranes, which attract the virus easier then say our skin. Men, on the other hand, have a harder time contracting HIV because the penis is covered in skin, although still VERY possible. Hope this helped -S- Abakos49 06-09-2005, 04:11 PM with that in mind, what is the length of time hiv can survive outside the body? panaSONIQUE 06-09-2005, 10:15 PM Ive heard 2 min. lost spirit 06-10-2005, 01:49 AM Hiv through oral sex is very slim but any unprotected sex has its risks not just for hiv but a very long line of other (STD) As far as hiv on the skin it can't get through unless it is either forced through ( VIA NEEDLE SHOOTING) or direct blood to blood contact ( and even that is slim BUT possible ) Hiv cannot pass through ( INTACT SKIN ) My best advice to you is ( if you're worried ) To get tested 3 months after last possable exposure . You're test will be conclusive at the 3 month mark . In good health .............. ............. Lost Spirit ............. |
