Hi, I am in desperate need of anyone out there with advice on what could be going on with me. For the past year i have been going for blood work regularly to check my white blood cell count (counts were first discovered high about a year ago) Last month my reg. doctor sent me to see a oncologist, this oncologist made me wait a month for another CBC test in which i just had done on Monday of this week. I go to see the oncologist on Tuesday June 14th to find out what the results of that blood test are. My symptoms include constant ear infections, blurred vision off and on, terrible itchy rash on legs that try to heal but then flares up time and time again, constantly feeling tired and exhausted, pain in my hips and back mostly when sleeping, low grade fever most of the time, always feeling like i'm on the verge of getting the flu or a cold, sore throat, chronic cough, painful periods in which i regularly pass blood clots, slight high blood pressure. In general i feel as though my body is shutting down on me. My oncologist told me that if it is leukemia that his guess is thats its chronic not acute. I was always under the understanding that with acute you have more of the symptoms that i am having. With Chronic you usually don't have all these symptoms.
Is anyone out there having the similar problem or words of advice.

Thank you Roswell for your reply!
Glad to hear that your treatments went smoothly for you. Are you finished for good now? Are you cured?
I will keep in touch about what comes about on Tuesday.
Take Care !!

In my opinion, almost impossible you have acute Leukemia, because your symptoms have been there for long time, acute Leukemia almost always attacks rapidly. About chronic Leukemia, I read that many people had long history of symptom before they were diagnosed and some people found Leukemia in their annual general check up without symptom. However, Chronic Leukemia is very rare among people younger than 50.

In fact, 5% of American people have high WBC (around 11-16) which is considered normal for them.

I hope you can find the answer soon and I wish your symptoms is not representing malignant disease.

Wish you healthy

I was having some simular symptoms..and i was really a little
scared when my wbc was 22 and i have had every test known to man to find out the problems and they weren't finding anything..
We share some of the same symptoms
constant ear infections, blurred vision(with floaters), rash on legs, constantly feeling tired and exhausted, pain in my hips and back and right side. low grade fever (worse in the mornings), sick feelings of flu or colds, sore throat, sometimes i couldn't speak for an hour when i woke up, chronic cough, chest pains, painful periods and gushing blood with them, passing blood clots.throwing up black, rectal bleeding, hematuria, and severe nausea that not even an i.v. with anti-nausea meds can cure..

I have seen a hemotologist and he checks my wbc every 4 to 6 weeks and recently told me my body is over-producing bone marrow..but he doesn't know why..So he is going to follow me regularly..oh, and
they recently found out i have"H_pylori"
I'm still seeing doctors to find out why all this is happening...
I know it sucks not knowing and you become very impatient and just want to feel good..So i feel for you and i hope they find a cure soon...Good luck..

Oh I feel for you. I was in the er the other night and my WBC were 28000, but I have not signs or symptoms of infection anywhere that they could find with a spinal tap and chest xray and urine. I was also afebrile. I sure hope they find out what your problem is, I think someone can have some types of leukemia for awhile without symtoms. Please be assertive with your doctor. and gain as much knowledge as you can.
