My mother 62 was admitted to hosp mon for an exteme blood clot to lower l leg..upon admittance her blood test revealed hgb of 5.2..i know dr didnt bel it either..she had been a little tired but nothing major..now she has had upper and lower gi..both fine..due to have small bowel xray tomarrow..she was given 2 units of blood and count was 8.2 then 8.8 now 9.2..they say must be a gradual bleed..anyone have any thoughts..we are confused..they are just now treating the clot..bp and sugar levels are fine..any ideas would be appreciated..thanks!

Beatle...My father in law went through the same exact thing. Has your mother been tested for Factor V? Read my post on that topic on this same page. He has very thick blood but what blood he had was practically gone...He had to have 4 or 5 units of blood...he almost died. And also had the clotting going on in his legs.
