BP 2, Depressive
Lamictal, Wellbutrin and Celexa
Yes, it works great!
Wellbutrin - it provided clarity within days.
Celexa alone. Any med combo that includes Celexa WITHOUT Wellbutrin. Celexa worked well solo for a while the first time I went on it, did okay the 2nd time and only made me worse the 3rd time even with Lithium and Lamictal. I'm still on it because it works really well with my other two drugs - don't fix it if it ain't broken, know what I mean?
3 - At first I couldn't fathom taking more than one. Now I know better.

Hi and Welcome Kimber Lee
1) Klonopin and seroquel
2) Maybe, I'm still having some issues. (If not, what combo has worked? = Um if we had a combo that worked in the past, why wouldn't we still be on it?)
3) I don't know! Dear God I don't know! :( (for awhile I thought it was dirty gin martinis! I don't think that anymore, yes I'm better now)
4) geodon? made me anxious as hell and knocked me out at the most in convenient times
5) 4 (not couting my meds for other "problems")

If you will allow me to answer on behalf of my BF...
1) Lithium, Lexapro, Klonopin
2) The first two above was the only combo that ever worked but now it has lost its effectiveness so the search continues
3) None as of yet
4) I forget the one he told me but it made my BF stutter so badly he could barely speak
5) Well, if my BF just simply did everything his idiot old therapist and pdoc (same practice) told him to take, he would right now be on Lithium, Lexapro, Klonopin, Seroquel and Ambien. The company who sells that practice script pads must be sitting somewhere in the tropics right now with the money they've made there.

4: Not quite as fond of the depakote, given how hungry I tend to get while taking it.

Type I Bipolar
1) Lithium carbonate 900-1200mg/day
2) No manias or depressions for 20 yrs
3) Lithium was definitely my miracle drug. I tell my husband he was the 2ND most important thing in my life!
4) Everything else - the side effects were awful for me
5) I honestly don't remember - I was so screwed up that I just took what they gave me and then had side effects, and was given something on top of the first thing to help the side effects and...

I have heard great things about lamactil, I don't have a clue what it is but when I was hospitizalized there were many on the drug and the people spoke highly of it. I currently take Geodon, Wellbutrin and depakote, I hate the depakote just because it has put 35 pounds on me but it's a small price to pay fopr sanity I supppose.

Don't know anything about Geodon, but Wellbutrin has really worked well for me. I've also heard mixed comments re: Depakote - is it an anti-seizure medication that's being used as a mood stabilizer for you? If that's the case, and you're unhappy with Depakote (weight gain AND some instability), then you may want to see the p-doc re: Lamictal.
My psychologist aunt-in-law was the one who brought Lamictal to my attention. She's got many clients who use it with great success.
Lamictal has a slow ramp up period, so it may take as long as a month or so to get a person up to the full therapeutic dosage. It is possible to transition from one drug to another, but you can expect a period (2 or more months) when you'll have overlap for both drugs.
I transitioned from Lithium to Lamictal. I had a tough time before, during and after the transition, so I can't say how much luck you'll have. Wellbutrin's the drug that kicked me back to normal, so things may be different in your case. I'm not a doc -- it's important to get professional counseling to weigh your options.
Good luck!

1) Trileptal, Wellbutrin Sr, Provigil 2) Yes, but only at correct dosages (being over medicated kept me in bed all day because of no energy or motivation, emotionally numb, no sex drive & bored)
3) Provigil, snaps me out of my coma from my mood stablizer. I take it & wellbutrin "SR" 2 hours before I want to awake, fall back asleep and wake up refreshed naturally! 4)Wellbutrin "XL" couldn't sleep @ pm, ANXIETY, irritable, the "SR" wears off @ pm

1.) Effexor XR, Klonopin, and Depakote ER
2.) Sort of, the Klonopin is starting to make me real irriatable and not having the full theraputic effects anymore (been on for three yrs, up to 4mg/day) hey since were on the subject whats a good substitute for Klonopin, Im going to my psychiatrist pretty soon and gotta get on something else for my severe anxiety. Maybe Xanax or Ambien?
3.) Effexor really got me off my bum and out of those horrible depression episodes and some OCD sysptoms (sp?).
4.) Effexor XR, Klonopin, Valium, and Trileptal. I was tapering off the Klonopin for about three weeks and taking the Valium and it landed me in the Mental Hospital.
5.) Same as number four.

New here....BP1 (I think) but mostly manic. Only been treated for about a year. 33 years of thinking I was highly creative yet overstressed...HA!
1. Depakote & just added Abilify 3-4 days ago.
2. too soon to tell and we are still trying to find the right combo.
3. Depakote has worked wonders...the stress levels and anger & agression has gone down greatly.
4. We tried adding Lithium but it made me shakey.
5. Just 2 so far but I'm willin g to try whatever...my complusive behavior still gets the best of me and I never feel "right" in my own skin.

1) BP type 2, depressed-duh: remeron 45mg; lexapro 30mg; Abilify 15mg; topamax 300mg.; clonapin 1mg bedtime, 1 mg prn.
2) Works unless I'm superstressed or the world has turned to ****--then I'' have a breakthrough regardless of "all the king's horses and all the king's men". My usual combo is just the remeron, topamax and clonapin. I'm having a slight problem.
3) it's a fight between remeron and topamax. I'm extremely suicidal all of the time without the remeron. I'm hostile without the topamax.
4) I HATE SEROQUEL by itself or with other drugs. It made me feel dissociated and "not real", like I was in a PTSD "flash back" or "stoned"--out of control--very bad.
5) See the list at #1!!!

I had never been diagnosed Bipolar until July 22nd. I went in to a full blown mania, that was chemically induced by a combo of things, Ultracet (pain med for terrible back problems), A diet/energy pill called Leanfire, and possibly steroids from the injections for my back problems. I stopped everything on the 16th of August, went to see a psychopharmacologist. He gave me Seroquel (100mgs) and Depakote(250mgs). I never took the Depakote, but took the Seroquel at night. It definitely helped me sleep, but the side effects were awful... weight gain, constipation, loss of balance , tremors, short term memory loss, so I stopped it. I started Lamictal, and got to 75mgs, and the mania totally went away, but it left me feeling basically nothing, complete loss of personlaity. I thought I had a caffeine allergy too, because when I drank coffee with Lamictal, I got very sick. (itchy, sore throat, pins and needles all over, burning sensations in my eyes, and bad muscle spasms). I stopped Lamictal and I am drinking coffee again, and I haven't had any reactions. Does anyone know if caffeine affects Lamictal or vise versa?

I looked up Bontril on the net and it by prescription only and according to the info it is indicated for severly overweight people.
I found an herb called Rhodiola at the health food store which id helping me control my eating, giving me focus and a general sense of well being, however it is contraindicated for people with Bipolar disorder as it acts as an antidepressant, so I don't know what your med mix is, but I would ask your cdoc about it.
I have an appt with my neurologist today and I am going to ask him if he knows anything about it?

1) What med or med combo are you on?
2) Does this combo work for you? If not, what combo has worked?
3) What's your "miracle drug" or the last piece of the puzzle?
4) What's your least favorite med or med combo? Why?
5) What's the largest number/regimen of BP meds you've ever taken at one time?
i am on lamictal 250mg in morning
klonopin 1mg three times a day
abilify 15mg at night
toprol xl 50mg in morning
this has been an amazing combo for me and my miracle drug is lamictal.
depakote was my least favorite med because my hypomania broke through on it and i gained 50lbs on it.
this is my largest med combo i have been on
thanks for the questionare.

Grrrrr I hate shrinks! Think they know everything, just like other docs but they cant be proven wrong, who will believe a crazy patient!
The latest idiot started my husband on that geodon, which says monitor very carefully, and told him to come back in 3 months!!?? He is not taking it.
Is on Seroquel, depakote, zoloft, cymbalta, neurontin He also takes other things for other health issues insulin, actos, lasix, zyloprin, accupril
Every time he goes to a dr I give them a list of what he is taking, they write it down in the chart and then dont pay any attention to it. The pharmacist even asked do all these different drs know what they are doing? They should, I tell them every time, but they dont listen.
