I use Thermal Heat Setting Spray by Matrix (from salon) and my straightener has steam (I add water), Conair Straight Styles. Also, olive oil cream works great, too. I got it at Sally's Beauty Supply.

I have a Revlon straightener. Its has wider plates. I also have a straightener that has the little thin plates and I hate it. Anyway my Revlon iron seems to slide down my hair better also. The other one pulls at my hair at i am straightenting. I have wavy hair and I notice a big difference in how my hair straightens if I blow dry first (instead of air drying). When I blow dry I run my fingers through my hair so that it doesnt dry wavy. I dont know if Revlon has a few diferent irons but the one I have is white and the plates are gold. You can get it at Walmart for like 15$. Target has it too for about 20$. It also has a little dial on it so you can adjust the level of heat. Its great.

If you feel like splurging for a great straightner, the only way to go is Chi. I have one, and I'll never go back to any other straightener!!! It's a little over $100, but it is well worth it. Heats up in about a minute, and it effortlessly straightens even the worst kinks without breaking or tearing the hair shaft. Most high-end salons swear by the Chi, I am sure you can ask your stylist about it and she can fill you in on where to get one in your area.

I have tried several flat irons over the past three years and finally splurged on a Global Beauty Chi. It's the one my stylist at Gene Juarez uses and I'm thrilled with it. I purchased it on the internet for $113.

Hmm, my hair is not that curly, just wavy, but its extremely thick. I have better results when I start with wet hair and just blow dry it out with a round brush. Regular flat irons will take out most of the wave but its still not straight if that makes any sense. Is this Chi flat iron really that good?

My hair is very curly and very thick. I wear it just below my shoulders. Yes, the Chi works. I've used reverse perms, every hair straightening product sold (I could open my own store), large rollers, round brushes, you name it... I even used to iron it with my Mom's clothes iron, and nothing has gotten my hair this straight and shiny. My friends are amazed. I've purchased Revlon, Conair, Hot Tools and several other brand name flat irons... none have worked. The Chi works!

There is a chemical system by Chi that my hairdresser used on me last October. I was a bit hesitant at first because I have had curly hair all my life. After several months of talking about it I finally did it. It was a three hour process where she put on chemicals and actually had to flat iron my hair twice. The price I paid wasn't bad. I have heard some salons charge up to $700 and mine was around $150. (This depends also on your hair type, length and what chemicals have already been used.) I couldn't believe how straight my hair came out. It was pin straight. Couldn't even get it to scrunch. So you really need to be ready for pin straight hair if your hairdresser does it right. It has been 8 months and I am going back next month because the regrowth is now getting curly and frizzy with the hot days. The longer parts are still straight. My neighbor goes to the same hairdresser and is going on her third touch up as well. I must say that I love it. I do have to sometimes touch up with a flat iron and then try to flip out the ends just a bit with the iron. It has been wonderful to actually wear my hair longer as I never could with when it was so curly. If you find a haridresser that does this they really need to know everything that has been done with your hair chemically. I know that I get my hair colored and then need to give it a rest for a week before she can do the chemical process to make it straight.

The Chi is a little over a hundred, and I have great results about it! I too have wavy/unmanageable hair, and I am planning to buy the MaxiGlide by Maxius? Any one recomend this starightner. Of the research I've done of Maxiglide, it is better than Chi! Also buy the products that come with it Beyond Straight and The End. I am going to buy it I'll let you know if it works!!!!!!! Good Luck!!!!!!!!

I have the Maxiglide and it's brilliant! I believe it's a lot better than the chi. I have long course thick curly/wavy hair and i can get it bone straight when i use the maxiglide. Put a little of the Silk therapy oil on the hair and then run the maxi over it and it's soft and shiny and bone straight!
