Hello everyone,

I am new here, but have a question. I am looking into going to a salon for bikini waxing and wanted to know what it usually costs. I am really nervous and if you have any tips on how to find a good place to go please feel free to tell me. I was curious whether it hurt also. If anyone has any other info. on the topic please let me know.

Thank you!!!

Hi Ali,

At my salon, a bikini wax is $25. My aesthetician only charges me $20 tho because I don't have a lot of hair. If you want to get the brazillian kind, that would be more expensive- not sure how much those usually run. Your best bet is to call a few salons you're considering and ask.

What makes a good salon in my opinion is reputation and hygiene. Pick one that looks nice, well maintained, clean, and if you're uncomfortable with any of the practices don't be afraid to say "stop" and go somewhere else. The aesthetician should be very professional. Some places give you little disposable panties to wear, some you keep your own on- so make sure you wear drawers you don't mind others seeing.

Does it hurt? Yeah, like heck for a second, then the pain goes away. Its just like ripping off a big bandaid. But, the hair will grow back much finer and that's a plus. And I never have a problem with ingrown hairs or anything like that. There are a lot of differing opinions on waxing, though. Its one of those things you just have to try for yourself. You may want to consider doing underarms first to get an idea of the procedure if you're nervous about the bikini area. Good luck!
