hello all,

it's been a while since my last post. i am now 1 year post op TLIF on L5-S1. my question is....i am currently going to a PM doc for recurrent pain. i just had a LESI last Monday which has helped my original back pain. my new issue is i have a sharp, burning electrical pain in my tailbone on the right side. i have never had problems with my right side, it's always been my left side. it feels like someone is stabbing me with a burning knife in my tailbone. it's not any certain move, just randomly. but it stops me dead in my tracks. any suggestions on what this might be??

thanks in advance!

Hey Heelsgal, Sounds to me like nerve regeneration. You must realize nerves are very slow healing entities (for loss of better words). I am a cervical spine patient and was an athletic physical labouror of sorts. Besides my spinal surguries, I have experienced a number of "nerve crushing injuries" that sound very much like your symptoms. I still get many very un-nerving  sensations from my neck. The burning is pressure on a nerve. the aches and throbbing are the nerve pissed from being pressed on. The sharp sometimes fleeting yet very aggressive pains, I put down to nothing more than your nerves letting you know thier there, and fighting to get better. You will find only time and good living make those randum pains slow and go away. Heat and ice help and at all costs, avoid agrivating it any more. I hope this helps some. Remember its only an opinion.
