what are the different kinds of muscular dystrophy? what are the signs and symptoms of each? the reason i ask is that my son has had a lot of health problems including:

under developed brain

scaring on the brain

hypotonia at birth

hypertonia a few months later

poor vision (+3.25 in both eyes)

didn't walk until he was 22 months old

developmental delay

feeding problems

legs look like they are starting to bo out

head size above the 97% tile on growth charts
when i say feeding problems , he had a feeding tube for about a year and a half. i have not gotten any answers from any of his drs . he has had numerous blood tests and two m.r.i.'s ....still no answers....he has had physical, occupational, and speech therapies along with nutritionists and a genitics specialists.
sorry this thread is soooooo long, but i need some insight into what this might be. the reason i posted here is because his physical therapists thought that he may have a slight form of md. :dizzy: :(
p.s. i would also like to mention that i was taking zoloft the entire time i was pregnant...dont know if this might have anything to do with his problems.

Brandiwine,

You've waited a long time for someone to reply. . . sorry. I hope I can set you in a direction that will help. Try the Muscular Dystrophy Association website. I don't believe I'm allowed to give a link or advertise within a post. Do a search and you'll find it. The MDA site lists in great detail the symptoms of all know MDs.

However the symptoms you describe sound much more involved than a case of muscular dystrophy. I've read just about everything there is to know since my own MD diagnosis several years ago.

Also, I can't recommend enough, take your son to your local MDA clinic. The experts are there to help you with a definitive diagnosis. They know MD when they see it. Going there changed my whole precpective about my own illness. They're a wonderful bunch there.

Best of luck. Keep "us" posted on the results.

Mark
