I'm new to this board. From reading the posts, it seems like most people are well informed and giving very good advice. Saying that, I hope that someone can help me.
I've been T1 for 12 years and am in very good control and on a strict meal plan. I'm going on a 6 day backpacking trip in Yosemite this summer. I've been on several backpack trips before, but never for longer than two days. My concern is nutrition.
Breakfast and dinners are easy for this trip. My question is about lunch. For short trips, I always bring tuna and crackers for lunch. For this trip, though, tuna and crackers for six days will be much too bulky. I have also thought about protein bars, but am not sure if it will give me the energy that I will need. My Dad has told me about sources provide dehydrated tuna. That's fine, but I still need carbs to keep my energy up. If anyone out there has experience with planning for trips like this, or can send me to websites where I can learn more, I would love to hear it!
