View Full Version : Good News for a change

As an experiment, I used the ChoiceDM HbA1c home test on a Saturday, and two Thursdays later, had a doctor's office visit where they drew blood. So with a 12 day difference between the tests, I can't say it's officially accurate, but both the lab and the home test gave the same reading of 6.4.

I am so relieved, because I had let myself go a bit out of control because I was out of pain after having a successful back surgery. So after 2 months of strict food watching and sugar monitoring, I'm back below 7 again. :D

Good news, wb! Great A1c.

It is a bit difficult to compare the home test to the lab done at the doctor's office, especially with a 12-day interval. Although the A1c's are supposed to be an 8-12 week average, they are actually somewhat weighted towards the more recent end of the spectrum.

The good news is that at the doctor's office, you did get a 6.4, and that indicates excellent control. Good for you!

Ruth
