So sorry to hear what you are going through. I wish I had the magic remidy (sp?) to make it all go away. All I have to give you is words of encouragement. I know it seems like forever ago that you had surgery and thought you would be so much further long than you are, but you will get there. You have to get your meds. right so that your not in so much pain. Keep on your dr. until they get you what you need for pain. Walk, walk, and then walk some more. (If your dr. says it's okay) I really believe a big part of the healing is all mental. I know it's hard when your feeling like crap and your wondering how you went through a surgery to make you feel better and you end up feeling worse! Believe me, I know! Just hang in there, our bodies might just be on the slow train of recovery. I wish you the best and hope you get over this hump on your way to pain free days!

:) Hi...Not that this will mean so much to you right now, but so many of us have been where you are and maybe will be there again. I remember thinking ALL DOCTORS were LIARS or spawns of the devil. I was told I would be able to return to work in about three weeks after surgery (L5S1 Fusion w/instrumentation, etc.) While that MAY be true for some, it wasn't for me. Anyways, it will get better!!! Try to focus best you can on only the good things, talk to people you care about and remember how important you are to others. Be strong....even strangers are thinking 'bout you today!!!
Good Luck,
Sally

Everyone is different so don't compare your recovery to others. When I had my surgery 22 years ago I was the one with complications. A stupid nurse came by my bed and told me about how Mr. Blah blah was doing so great up and running around....I lay there with a high fever and a heavy loss of blood that required more transfusions 7 days after surgery. The head nurse chewed her out and told her that every patients recovery was different. I was in the hospital for three weeks and I was unable to walk more than a few feet for the next three months.
Sometimes the nerves take a beating before and during surgery and for some of the not so fortunate the pain is excruciating. Keep your chin up things can and do get better. But for some the wait is longer.

Mike, you say you are in "more pain now" than before the surgery. Is it the same kind of pain in the same place, or is it different? It's been 3 months since your surgery and you should be feeling better; is this nerve pain you are having?
For sure, you cannot keep taking that many norco. You really need to have a good talk with the surgeon; he should order an MRI to be sure there is nothing new happening. If he refuses to do that, I would suggest trying to find another doctor for a second opinion on your recovery.
Good luck.
