I've heard some say that you should work abs 3-4 times a week...some have said 1 time a week just like body parts (they're a muscle too)! Well, I do the upper abs using a weighted machine and leg raises holding dumbells...I started doing them 2 times a week and they'e gotten tight on me several times throughout the day...should I go back to 1 time a week?

Thanks for your replies

I think abs are a lot like calf muscles in that they can be worked harder because they are in pretty constant use. I had the work the snot out of mine to get good development, but have since gone back to once a week for maintenance. If you're cramping, then back off a bit (maybe weighted one day, unweighted the second?) but I think abs are extremely hard to overtrain. You just probably don't want too much midsection bulk, so be aware of that (unless it is for sport/core strength rather than aesthetics).

Yeah...I does seem like my abs are bulking up more! So, I think I'll go back to just once a week!
