Hi guys.

I am new to this forum, so bear with me!!

Basically, over the last two weeks I have been, um, weeing more often then i usually do . Normally I go about two or three times a day, but recently I have been going more like 6 or 7. Along with this problem I have had a dry mouth. The odd thing is that if I am doing something to keep my mind off worrying about it (such as being in college, work, or doing something I enjoy) I do not feel the need, but as soon as I get home and am bored I need the toilet. Also, when I 'go' the wee is normally clear.. odd .

I have been known to have spells like this in the past, but never lasted more than a few days. My main worry is of course diabetes, (hence I am posting on this forum ;)) but I am not overweight, and there is no direct family members with it - my great uncle has type 2 but that is it. I know I should probably go and get a blood test, but naturally I am scared of what the result might be.

One thought I have had is that it is just stress / anxiety. I am in my last year at college and have a >lot< of work to do, which has involved staying up very late at night for quite a while! And perhaps worrying about it and thinking about it has just made it worse  hmmm!!

Anyway any support / advice would be very helpful!

Thanks, David :bouncing:

PS sorry for the long post

There is no glory to be found in being uniformed. Trust that your body is telling you that something is up. It may be something or it may just be stress. Put your fears aside and go to the doctor.

Fearing a potential diagnosis does you no good. It is only in knowing what is happening that you can do something about it.

If the result is that you're a diabetic, then take the next logical step and deal with it. It does not have to be a death sentence or an impairment to a long healthy life.

It just means that you have to control and mind what you took for granted. Everyone and I mean everyone should take on the lifestyle a newly diagnosed diabetic is issued.

Diabetes 2 is, in my honest opinion, the scruge created by our own carelessness and apathy. Of course, there are those that are genetically pre-disposed, but the numbers are frightening. Since I was diagnosed three years ago, I'm horrified by the eating habits of my nephew and neice (just turned 6). My sister gets an earful everytime. You just become so aware.

Yes, get tested for diabetes, and insist on a Glucose Tolerance Test, it may catch it early on if you are borderline or becoming one. Also, go to the dentist. When I became a diabetic changes occurred w/teeth, gums (start of gingivitis) and dry mouth. Dentist tell you how to take care of these conditions. Also, dry mouth can be taken care of with Biotene mouthwash, Biotene products, and Colgate tartar control toothpastes. Mouthwashes with alcohol were killing my mouth!
Proud of you to check this out. Diabetes does go hand and hand with dry mouth and extra urination. Hopefully, you will not have it, but if you do, there is soooo much we CAN DO today.
