I haven't had TMJ too long...A few months ago, my joints started clicking, nothing major, just smalls clicks and grinds here and there..Lately, I have noticed the clicking seems to be deeper and harder than before, if anyone can understand that. Is this normal? AND...How bad can a TMJ headache be? And neck pains?? That still worries me...Thanks for your time, Amy

Hi there
For me the clicking problem you describe is normal. Things have changed over a series of months for me. The clicking was only on my left side but I now have a crunching sensation on the right side and I can feel my TMJ moving outwards if you see what im mean, so much so that my hand moves considerably when I open my mouth. this is only on the right side, very weird and it wasnt there before im sure.
Let me say that TMJ headaches can be rather nasty for me personally, bad enough for me to seek medical attention anyway. As for neck pains, well I suffer from them every single day. The pain also radiates into my shoulders also. Hope this helps.

I actually had to leave work the other day because of my headache. It felt like someone had cold cocked me in the left side of my face. The pain radiated down into my neck, shoulder and back. I did a little research and it sounded like a tension headache that can be associated with TMJ.

Thank you both for answering. I really appreciate it all. TMJ, coupled with the medical anxiety I already have, is about to get to me. Thanks again! Amy
